2026 Webinar Series: International Trends and Insights from the Smart City Expo World Congress

The Smart City Expo World Congress, held annually in Barcelona, is the world’s largest gathering of smart city global leaders. In late 2025, ASCA coordinated the largest-ever delegation from Australia and New Zealand, sending 30 local experts.

The World Congress is a global meeting place of ideas. Attendees are exposed to the latest in digital, technology and data solutions and concepts, and discussion drives strategic approaches to how communities are responding to a wide range of critical challenges.

At this webinar, two ASCA members who attended the event will share insights into the key international trends and emerging issues, and their views on how Australia compares on the world stage and what we need to be doing in order to harness the opportunities of the moment.

Advisor and Former NSW Government, Executive Director Smart Places Rory Brown, and technology consultant Lilliana Ructtinger will be joined by our regular webinar host Dr Nathaniel Bavinton to explore the key takeaways from this annual agenda-setting event.

Guests:

Rory Brown, (Advisor and Former NSW Government, Executive Director Smart Places)

Lilliana Ructtinger, (Founding Director, Versitu)

Facilitator: Dr Nathaniel Bavinton: (ASCA Board Member & Associate Director, Urbis)

This webinar is free and available to current or prospective ASCA members only. If you are an ASCA member, register below. You will receive the webinar link at 5pm on Monday 23 February.
