Welcome to 2018

As we slowly make our way back from the Christmas break ASCA wishes you all the best for the New Year. 2018 is shaping up to be one of the pivotal years for our association. We await word from the Australian Government on the submission process for the second round of the Smart Cities and Suburbs Program, with another $22 million to be allocated.

ASCA has held discussions with the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and made suggestions for improving the process. We have also made a submission in relation to the Federal Budget – seeking more funding and support for smart cities and communities initiatives. We are talking to each of the states and territories about how they can support your efforts and help make Australia a leading player in the smart use of technology.

Our annual conference is shaping up to be the best event of its kind south of the equator and we are planning on holding a member meetup in each of the capital cities and as many regional centres as possible this year.

The Working Groups arrangements are under review and we welcome feedback on how you’d like them run; plus any other suggestions you have about making ASCA more valuable to our members.

Finally for now, there’s strength in numbers as they say. So please ensure you keep up your membership and please encourage others to join.
