The Digital Western Parkland City Event

An industry briefing for the technology sector will be held on 8 February 2019 to plan the development of the Digital Western Parkland City.

This event is the first step for the Australian and NSW Government and eight local governments to engage the world’s technology sector to co-develop the best available infrastructure and public services for the people of Western Sydney.

The population of the Western Parkland City is projected to grow from 740,000 in 2016 to well over 1.5 million by 2056. It will be one of Australia’s most connected cities with innovative public transport, aviation and digital infrastructure which will bring residents closer to jobs, services, education and the world.

The event will provide technology players big and small with detail on the Western Sydney City Deal that relate to digital connectivity and technology and the opportunities to help transform the Western Parkland City into a Smart City.

Our Approach

We are running a process that is designed to inform investment decisions of government. Through the Western Sydney City Deal process we are looking to create solutions that work together, no matter who provides them, to deliver the best city we can for the projected 1.5 million people who will live there, and those who will visit or do business in the region.

Industry Collaboration

We encourage collaboration among industry players and expect this to be fundamental to the development of innovative technology-driven solutions and essential to achieve the vision for the Western Parkland City.

Outcomes of the Industry Briefing Event

At the end of this process we will recommend to the government options for investment, and a roadmap for the delivery of a Digital Western Parkland City.

Our innovative approach to engage with industry and establish a level playing field and an open dialogue has been endorsed and will drive the best outcomes in building a Digital Western Parkland City.

Program Timeframes

The key industry briefing will be held on 8 February 2019. Subsequent tailored information sessions will be held after the key briefing if considered necessary.

Following the briefing, we will call for a short investment prospectus from businesses, consortia and others seeking to respond to the opportunity by 29 March 2019.
